Orlando, FLJanuary 10, 2027
Four runs per week for 18 weeks: two easy runs, one midweek aerobic run, and one long run. The schedule stays fixed; the guidance below shows how to choose terrain, rehearse conditions, and prepare for the Walt Disney World Marathon course.
The Walt Disney World Marathon finished 13,291 runners in 2026, and 0.8% of them ran a Boston qualifying time. Those two numbers together tell you what kind of race this is: a very large field on very flat ground, where hardly anybody is chasing a number. Almost nobody who enters minds.
The 18-week window opens around September 6, 2026. Weeks one through 17 keep the normal Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday rhythm. Only race week moves so the marathon lands on its actual weekday. If the window has passed, do not skip ahead or cram missed mileage into the time left.
Open any week to see all seven days. Week 1 is open to start.

Race
Marathon — 26.2 mi
It begins at 15 miles per week, peaks at 40, and asks you to manage schedule changes and missed training yourself.
Current mileage, recent longest run, marathon experience, goal, and available days decide which plans rank first.
The mileage builds your engine. Your long-run route, pacing, fueling, and clothing rehearsals make that fitness specific to this race.
Train for the Walt Disney World Marathon for humidity and for flat, unvarying ground. The course has roughly 260 feet of climbing in 26.2 miles, so terrain will not be your limiter. A humid Florida morning and a field of more than 13,000 runners will be, and both of those can be trained for if you plan around them.
Put your long runs in the warmest, most humid conditions your calendar offers, and practice drinking on the move rather than walking through aid stations. Race morning in Orlando averages 87% humidity at the start, and humidity is what turns a comfortable effort into a hot one well before the thermometer looks alarming.
Then train the flatness directly. Find a long stretch of level pavement and run two or three long efforts on it with no hills at all, so you learn where your stride starts to break down without terrain to reset it. Then load your calves and hips in the gym twice a week, because on ground this level the same tissue takes the same load for the entire race with nothing to share it.
Finally, rehearse crowded running. Do a couple of workouts where you deliberately hold back for the first twenty minutes and then settle into goal effort. That is the exact pattern this race will impose on you, and it works much better as a plan than as a surprise.
Keep the plan honest. This free schedule contains no speedwork. Apply the course guidance through route choice and race rehearsal without turning easy days into extra workouts. If your goal calls for marathon-pace work, compare it with First Marathon Plus.
Do several Walt Disney World Marathon long runs on uninterrupted flat ground. With few terrain changes to reset your stride, steady pacing and late-run form matter more than hill speed.
Early January mornings in Orlando typically start near 53F with humidity around 87% under clear skies, and the day climbs to an average high near 68F. That is a cool start and a warm, sticky finish for anyone past four hours. Train through humidity rather than only in cool weather, and plan your clothing for mile 15 instead of for the start line.
The back half after mile 18, where a completely flat course has given your legs no variation for three hours and the Florida humidity has quietly taken more out of you than your pace suggests.
Beginner-friendly does not mean couch-to-marathon. Week one asks for four runs, 15 total miles, and a six-mile long run.
The 2027 Walt Disney World Marathon is scheduled for January 10, 2027, so the 18-week window opens around September 6, 2026. Weeks one through 17 keep the normal weekly rhythm and Sunday long run; only the final race week shifts to the event's actual weekday. If that date has already passed, do not compress 18 weeks of mileage into a shorter window.

Four run days can be enough when 15 miles in week one is not a sudden jump and you can protect the long run most weeks. This schedule builds to a 40-mile peak and a 20-mile long run. A runner chasing an aggressive time or already supporting more volume may fit a higher-mileage plan better.
Yes, about as flat as marathons get. The course runs between roughly 90 and 120 feet of elevation and totals around 260 feet of climbing across 26.2 miles. Terrain will not slow you down. Humidity averaging 87% at the start and a field of more than 13,000 runners will.
No. Only 0.8% of finishers ran a Boston qualifying time in 2026, the same as in 2025, and the rate has stayed at or below 1.2% in recent years. The course is flat enough to be fast, so the low rate reflects the humid conditions and the fact that most entrants are running it for the experience.
Choose your race for its current date, course profile, typical race-morning conditions, and specific long-run guidance.
