Green Bay, WIMay 16, 2027
Four runs per week for 18 weeks: two easy runs, one midweek aerobic run, and one long run. The schedule stays fixed; the guidance below shows how to choose terrain, rehearse conditions, and prepare for the Green Bay Marathon course.
The EPIC Marathon starts and finishes on Cormier Road outside the EPIC Event Center in Ashwaubenon, a few blocks from Lambeau Field, and the organizer describes the route as flat courses through Ashwaubenon, Green Bay, Allouez and the Brown County trail system. The marathon goes off at 7:00 a.m. This is a young event, running its third edition.
The 18-week window opens around January 10, 2027. Weeks one through 17 keep the normal Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday rhythm. Only race week moves so the marathon lands on its actual weekday. If the window has passed, do not skip ahead or cram missed mileage into the time left.
Open any week to see all seven days. Week 1 is open to start.

Race
Marathon — 26.2 mi
It begins at 15 miles per week, peaks at 40, and asks you to manage schedule changes and missed training yourself.
Current mileage, recent longest run, marathon experience, goal, and available days decide which plans rank first.
The mileage builds your engine. Your long-run route, pacing, fueling, and clothing rehearsals make that fitness specific to this race.
Train for the EPIC Marathon by rehearsing goal pace in long, unbroken blocks, because a flat course gives you nothing to hide behind. On rolling terrain, every hill forces a change in stride and a moment of relief. Here you will hold one cadence for hours, so the failure mode is not blown quads at mile 19 but the slow drift where your form degrades and the pace goes with it.
Put two or three of your long runs on the surface you will race. If part of the course is county trail, get onto packed gravel or a rail trail for the back half of a long run and find out how your ankles and calves respond after two hours. Doing that in February is inconvenient, which is exactly why most of the field will not.
Then deal with the calendar. A mid May race means your 16 week build starts in January in the upper Midwest, so plan around snow and ice from the first week. Treadmill work for the hard sessions is fine. What is not optional is getting your long runs outdoors in wind, because a flat, exposed loop can hand you a headwind with no hill to break it up.
Keep the plan honest. This free schedule contains no speedwork. Apply the course guidance through route choice and race rehearsal without turning easy days into extra workouts. If your goal calls for marathon-pace work, compare it with First Marathon Plus.
Do several Green Bay Marathon long runs on uninterrupted flat ground. With few terrain changes to reset your stride, steady pacing and late-run form matter more than hill speed.
There are no verified race morning norms published for this event, so do not build your race kit plan around a number. What is fixed is the calendar: a mid May race in northeast Wisconsin means most of your training happens in winter cold, then race day can be a good deal warmer than anything you trained through. Get at least three long runs in whatever spring warmth you can find before race week.
Unpublished, and on a course the organizer calls flat the hard part is usually late: the stretch past mile 20 where nothing about the terrain changes and your stride has been identical for three hours.
Beginner-friendly does not mean couch-to-marathon. Week one asks for four runs, 15 total miles, and a six-mile long run.
The 2027 Green Bay Marathon is scheduled for May 16, 2027, so the 18-week window opens around January 10, 2027. Weeks one through 17 keep the normal weekly rhythm and Sunday long run; only the final race week shifts to the event's actual weekday. If that date has already passed, do not compress 18 weeks of mileage into a shorter window.

Four run days can be enough when 15 miles in week one is not a sudden jump and you can protect the long run most weeks. This schedule builds to a 40-mile peak and a 20-mile long run. A runner chasing an aggressive time or already supporting more volume may fit a higher-mileage plan better.
The organizer describes the courses as fast and flat, running through Ashwaubenon, Green Bay, Allouez and the Brown County trail system. No elevation profile or gain figure is published, so treat flat as their description rather than a measured number. Train for sustained goal pace with no hills to break up your stride.
Both on Cormier Road, outside the EPIC Event Center in Ashwaubenon, just off Holmgren Way near Lambeau Field. Every distance in the festival uses the same start and finish, and the marathon goes off at 7:00 a.m. alongside the half marathon and the relays, so race morning logistics are simple.
Choose your race for its current date, course profile, typical race-morning conditions, and specific long-run guidance.
